Inspired by the Ajax Mountains the team and I put together a snowy Aspen wedding styled shoot and I think it’s a perfect ode to this soon-to-end winter!
Mountain weddings are gorgeous but they often land in the rustic category…until now. This stunning Aspen wedding bridal shoot is blowing that notion right out of the water! With an elegant open back Ines Di Santo gown, a glamorous fur shawl and dripping sunlight, made this Colorado styled shoot like no other.
As we were planning our annual vacation trip to the Ajax Mountains, a thought ran through my mind. What if we brought a stunning dress by a Canadian designer and shoot it against the breathtaking mountain view? I was in love with that idea right away! Twenty four hours before boarding the plane, I called our friends at Ines Di Santo headquarters in Toronto and asked them if they’d be up for it. They said “Yes!” Another twenty-four hours later, my dear friend Dani Epstein and I were standing in front of a jaw-dropping Ajax Mountain view while photographing her in the stunning gown. This is how this creative shoot came together and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
We visited several locations for the shoot and decided on this snow-covered road leading up to the mountains. We couldn’t pick one reason for our decision; everything just felt right there with the snow covered wooden lodge, frozen mountain river straight out of a fairytale, towering birch trees and the glowing sunset light illuminating the scene. The dress, the model, and the shawl added a touch of glamour and chic reflecting the blend of elegant and rustic that I wanted.
Staying true to Mango style, I kept the shoot light-hearted, editorial and candid. There’s a sense of movement in every shot. It was important for me to show a beauty of a bride and her delicate frame standing tall in front of the surrounding mountains. Her elegance is further accentuated by her poses, the delicate placement of hands and body curves. There’s no sight more beautiful than of a bride on the day of her wedding. Basking in the glowing light, with all the luxury of time, her jewels that seem to float off her delicate skin and glitter in the warm sunlight. She is full of anticipation and the air around her is filled with magic that is momentarily interrupted by a gentle mountain breeze that sweeps through kissing her cheeks and carrying her thoughts away.
With Spring nearly upon us, this Aspen wedding shoot is our way of saying goodbye to winter. I’d never thought I’d say it but winter is quickly becoming one of my favorite seasons. With its slow days, crisp winter light and the feeling of magic surrounding the Holiday season. Winter is a perfect time to recharge my creative juices. It provides a perfect scene to relax, reconnect with your loved ones and get ready to tackle the next busy wedding season with a smile. With the first day of spring only a week away, I’d like to congratulate everyone beginning the new season, new plans, new hopes and say goodbye to winter… in style!
